Finally – We’re catching up…

New Housing will soon be growing rather fast off Butti Way – New low income apartments are on the horizon!

During a Supervisors meeting Thursday, Supervisors learned low income families just might “get a move-in” with 81 unit affordable apartments looming on the horizon – right on Butti Way ON CITY OWNED PROPERTY.

Supervisors are approving an agreement that will lead the city to chip in some money of its own and combine it with developers and other sources.  A separate development agreement, passed in 2021, stipulated that the city-owned land will be conveyed to Oikos Development Corp., at no cost, but the land must be used for low-priced affordable housing for at least 51 years.

The average rent for an apartment in Carson City is currently just over 14-hundred a month, and that’s for a not-so-big apartment. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the median household income in Carson City is $58,305 but there are sooooo many Carson City workers that don’t make that much.
