A late afternoon brush and house fire filled the air over the Genoa Cemetery area of Douglas County. East Fork Firefighters raced to the scene but the home was badly damaged. As you can see above, the fire was pushed beyond the home toward the east where grass and desert plants were quickly engulfed in flame and threatened a number of other homes right off Jacks Valley Road. Firefighters were tracking back where the fire was initiated near the burned home and then walked its easterly pace up to Jacks Valley Road where the fire was stopped. No word yet on what caused the blaze.
There didn’t appear to be any major damage to the cemetery largely due to the swift action of the firefighters.
