A manufacturing company based in the Silver Sage Industrial Park at 5200 East Highway 50, attracted an army of Carson City Firefighters and fire trucks when it was learned that natural gas was gushing up out of the ground – creating very dangerous conditions around the industrial park. Reports say the tenant was in the process of moving out lots of industrial supplies which were scheduled to be re-established in another industrial park.
Reports say that the gas line that feeds the industrial shop suffered considerable damage when a fork-lift carrying some heavy equipment slid off the fork-lift’s tongues. The equipment fell down on top of a natural gas meter which began spewing natural gas into the air.
Because there was no shutting down the gas line in the immediate area, workers had to shut it off by working on a spot up stream that finally stopped the flow, to the relief of firefighters and workers. The natural gas company crew will help re-install the gas pipe along with metering equipment.
